Overlord Mata Muram has several mechanics to explain. I broke it down into a Summary of his abilities and then 5 sections describing different mechanics. He has a hearty HP pool so this can be longer than your typical fight.
Overlord Mata Muram Summary
– 9 Million HP
– Hits 3500+ (35 Heroic Stamina), up to 7K if someone fails a mask emote
– Rampages
– Casts Mata Muram’s Gaze:
1) Debuff Effect (on player): Single Target, 4000 DD, -90% Spell Cast Speed, -90% Haste, -300 Stats
2) Buff Effect (On Mata Muram): Increases Spell and Melee skill damage 100%, Increased minimum Skill damage 400%
– Casts Mark of Death: Casted on all raid members individually but at the same time. It results in Cazic-Touch aka Death Touch if not cured. Cazic-Touch does 100K Max Damage, meaning if you have over 100K HP or enough HP/ Spell Shielding combined then you can live. Unresistable, 1 minute duration, 14 Disease Cure
– Casts Torment of Body: NPC Hatelist, 3000 DD, -300 HP/DoT, -25% Accuracy, -100 Effective Casting Level aka more Fizzles, -375 Prismatic Based, 24 Curse Cure
– Casts Touch of Anguish: NPC Hatelist, -30% Spell Damage, 90% Snare, -30% Skill Damage Mod, -475 Cold Based, 30 Poison Cure
– Casts Gaze of Anguish: NPC Hatelist, 4000 DD, -300 HP/Tick DoT, -250 Mana/Tick DoT, -475 Cold Based, 30 Disease Cure
– Casts Relinquish Spirit: NPC Hatelist, -100% Cast Speed, -300 ATK, -100 Stats, -375 Chromatic Based, 24 Curse Cure
– Casts Wail of Anguish: NPC Hatelist, 10 second stun + pushback, -475 Disease Based
Mechanic 1
This is one of the most important mechanics. You will want to make sure everyone in the raid has a Mirrored Mask equipped (possibly only a specific number of people need it, I have no way to test this. To be safe get one for everyone). These drop from trash and previous bosses in the zone.
This item has a Spell: Reflect Skin clicky on it. It should be used when you see the following emote:
He will do this emote every 70 seconds. 10 seconds after you see this emote he will cast Mata Muram’s Gaze on one player.
If you do not have the buff Spell: Reflect Skin from the mask up when he casts on you then you’ll be hit by Mata Muram’s Gaze. This spell not only debuffs you, but also buffs Overlord Mata Muram:
Mata Muram’s Gaze:
1) Debuff Effect (on player): Single Target, 4000 DD, -90% Spell Cast Speed, -90% Haste, -300 Stats
2) Buff Effect (on Mata Muram): Increases Spell and Melee Skill damage 100%, Increased minimum Skill damage 400%
The Mirrored Mask buff has a 18 second base duration and an 80 second recast time.
You can also see an emote if he is going to cast it on another player:
If you successfully reflect Mata Muram’s Gaze he will stop attacking momentarily and attack again shortly after.
Mechanic 2
There are two Coerced Lieutenants to the right and left side of Overlord Mata Muram. These are charmable and can be used for additional DPS. They hit 3900+ while charmed ad attacking. They’ll hit up to 3k+ on a player (35 Heroic Stamina). If you kill them they will respawn.
Mechanic 3
Overlord Mata Muram has some other AE’s that need to be looked out for. Your raid will want to keep Disease, Poison, and Curse Cures handy. Also be careful to cure Mark of Death ASAP (Death Touch if not cured)

Mechanic 4
Frenzied Lasher adds spawn throughout the entire fight. They are mezzable and slowable and spawn in packs of 5. Kill them as soon as they spawn. They have low HP and die quickly. They spawn every 55 seconds. You’ll see an emote when they do:
– 6K HP
– Hit 600+ (35 Heroic Stamina)
– Backstab 2k+
– Slowable
– Mezzable
Mechanic 5
At roughly 20-30% HP (seems to vary a bit) Overlord Mata Muram will stop attacking and 4x “riftseeker type” mobs will spawn. These guys are just part of a dialogue script, but not part of the fight itself, they will despawn after you trigger the next part.
Attack or speak to Overlord Mata Muram once these guys spawn and everyone will get ported back to Ture’s Lair. Run back to Overlord Mata Muram and resume killing him. You can med up before re-engage.
Note 1: Trash in this zone does respawn (Approx. 2 hours) so if your guild has not been to Ture’s Lair in sometime you may want to clear trash prior to beginning the Overlord Mata Muram event so you have a clear path back.
Note 2: Make sure to med up *before* clicking back into his lair or he may heal to 100% if you zone into his lair without engaging him quickly enough.
Note 3: Classes with pets will lose their pet once the port to Ture’s Lair happens, so it is recommended to suspend them a bit prior to Overlord Mata Muram hitting 30% HP so you do not have to resummon or rebuff it.
